One of the most trusted vintage resellers out there today is Shrimpton Couture and last week the owner posted a gorgeous 1958 Christian Dior navy blue silk satin coat in her Instagram stories that I wanted to share here on the blog.
Talk about forward thinking design. This looks like it could have easily been produced today. Its price tag is high, like $6,500 high but if you have the small fortune to afford this rare beauty, I urge you to really think about adding this piece to your wardrobe. It truly is special and I believe if this does’t get picked up by one lucky owner it will find its way to a museum somewhere in the world. This is a very special garment and I wanted to share it here. Click on any of the photos to take you directly to the listing.
From the website “Yves Saint Laurent only created six Haute Couture collections for the House of Dior which makes the few garments found from those collections very special. The Fall 1958 season was his second collection for the house and this collection was presented to Princess Margaret and guests at Blenheim Palace. This coat is from that season and is exceptionally well documented. It was the piece from the show that was used in the ad campaign that season and it also appears in the book ‘Dior: Yves Saint Laurent 1958-1960’ one of a series of books celebrating the houses 70th anniversary. ” Ahhh hello?!!! This is your chance to own a bit of history!
Seriously, just look at that collar and color!
I love a great 3/4 length sleeve and there’s pockets!
Shrimpton Couture sells some really special pieces and if you love vintage and designer than this small business needs to be on your radar. https://www.shrimptoncouture.com
