I wanted to write about my favorite summer essentials we all need to have on hand when preparing to spend some quality time at the beach or pool. These top five essentials are a favorite large beach bag, a large brim hat, sunglasses, flat sandals and your beach accessories such as a towel or an extra sarong. So go through this checklist and make sure your beach accessories are up to date and add what you need to round up your summer essentials.
THE BEACH BAG
The first thing on the list is having the right sized beach bag to carry all your necessities for the day. You’ll probably gonna want to have room to fit sunscreen lotions, a towel, reading materials, mobile phone, small wallet, water flask and that just to name a few important items any girl needs for a day trip to the beach. Your bag needs to be both durable as well as light to hold all your essentials.
I love carrying a bag that stands out, this makes it easier for me to spot in a crowded beach or poolside so check out the bags I’ve found below.

Secondly, when heading outside you need a large hat and by large I mean one with a longer brim to block the sun and cover your face. There really is no way around it, a hat is necessary when you plan on spending some time outdoors to protect your face, hair, eyes and neck from harmful rays. I also prefer a wide brim when relaxing on a lounge chair; it makes people watching less conspicuous.
With a beach hat I always say go big or go home. Remember a hats purpose is to protect you from harmful UV rays, so along with sunscreen don’t forget your hat.

THE FLAT SANDAL
I love a flat sandal and wear mine all day during the summer months. When going to the beach its always easy to just put on a casual flip flop and go but I recommend elevating your shoe game. There is nothing I dislike more than seeing a woman dress beautifully in a gorgeous sarong and matching bikini and her feet are dressed in a flip flop one would wear in the showers at the local gym. So, don’t forget your feet. Carry your flip flops in your beach bag and switch once you step foot on the sand if you must.
I’ve found some beautifully summer sandals that you can wear all day through night that are simple but not too casual. I prefer a slip on shoe versus one with any buckles that need adjusting. The purpose is to be effortless but chic.

The forth beach essential is sunglasses so don’t forget to bring your favorite pair. You obviously want sunglasses that block out 100% of UVA and UVB rays and screen out 75% to 90% of visible light to help protect your eyes when planning to spend many hours outside.
I wrote a blog post about the top five sunglass styles you should have in your wardrobe here if you want even more ideas on sunglass styles.

THE BEACH ACCESSORIES
I know that last item sounds a bit vague, but this is where I round up the items that you can easily place in one single category; and this is your beach accessories such as a towel, a pouch to hold your lotions or coin wallet or even an extra sarong or kaftan. These are light pieces you can easily pop into your bag and go. Sometimes you don’t even need to bring a towel if you’re using pool facilities at a resort or country club.
A small tip, I always carry with me an extra sarong incase the one I’m wearing gets wet and I need an extra for when moving from pool side to outdoor bar and want to feel fresh again. This has saved me numerous times. I also always carry a pouch with me in my bag, mainly because I like being organized and its so much easier to keep loose bits contained inside my bag.
