Top Five Secondary Coats & Jackets Every Woman Should Add To Her Wardrobe

Last week I profiled the top five coats every woman should have in her wardrobe and this is part deux. I’ll call it the top five secondary coats and jackets every woman should own in addition too. You might not want to own all 10 obviously, and it will probably be a combination of the two lists, but here is my additional checklist of secondary coats and jackets that you should consider adding to a functional wardrobe.

THE SHEARLING COAT

The shearling coat is such a wonderful addition and a great piece to mix and alternate between during colder months. This coat brings so much great casual style vibes and it’s the perfect coat for errand running or for brunch with friends. I love how cozy it looks and it is naturally water resistant and moisture wicking, so basically functional and stylish.

THE FAUX FUR COAT

A faux fur is what I love to wear when I want add some punch to my outfit during those in-between weather nights were a blazer wont quite cut it and a heavy parka is out of the question, this is when I pull out the faux fur. I own a leopard print 3/4 length sleeve faux fur and I love it. It’s a fun piece and instantly adds glamour to my outfit. Shrimps, the British womenswear clothing brand, has an amazing assortment of faux fur coats so check them because they put out amazing pieces season after season.

THE JEAN JACKET

The classic and trusty jean jacket. I’ve had my jean jacket for over 10 year and cherish mine. This a great choice to have around, say to through into a tote bag or over your shoulders and quickly head out the door. This is a perfect layering piece and a great when you are going some place casual such as a sporting event, shopping at the mall or a family BBQ. There are so many style to choose from, cropped and fitted or long and oversized. I recommend adding a jean jacket that has a classic shape that lasts for many years before adding any of the trendier cuts into your wardrobe.

THE CAPE COAT

I love a cape coat. It’s so chic and so easy to wear, just through it on and go. I love it because it’s a coat that you look feminine wearing even with flat boots or shoes and I personally adore all the movement my arms have when wearing mine. Its just so easy, a must when adding to your fall/winter coat collection.

THE ATHLETIC JACKET

I wasn’t going to add this one to the list but I realized just how much I wear mine, literally I wear mine everyday, that it would not make any sense not to add. This is the jacket I reach for when doing sport activities such as going to the gym or a brisk walk around the forest preserves near my home. It’s the lite jacket that gets a lot of wear and very much a necessity. Burberry is known for their beautiful quilted jackets, that I love and is great for cooler fall walks. Or you can do a nylon fabric windbreaker sort athletic jacket that is what I use when heading to the gym.
